Boat Sheds, Waiheke

A private oasis created on magnificent Waiheke Island as an escape from city life, this pair of black, sleek, modern boatsheds sit nestled into their surroundings, displaying ultra-clean lines and rustic appeal.

With five different ceiling arrangements to hold your interest and great use of timbers and finishes, this bach is durable and unique. With the decks spilling out into the rear garden and pool, there is plenty of room for pets and guests.

The property has all the modern facilities of a house on the mainland but is fully self-contained, with on-site septic utilities and water storage all hidden below ground.

Our clients wanted a contemporary cottage feel which would be light and airy in the summer as well as cozy and homely in the winter. To achieve this, we went on a buying trip to Melbourne to source the beams and posts, which were machined and crafted on site by the Pitch team.

Sustainable cedar and radiata pine are used to great effect, along with the recycled bridge beams. It is predominantly a solid timber home, interior and exterior, as our client doesn’t particularly like gib board.

High, recycled timber fencing provides privacy around the pool and deck.

Planting helps to soften the hard surfaces and make this a peaceful oasis for a great weekend escape for the owners. It has a real Waiheke feel.

This is a very considered home, a truly relaxing getaway location that is 'lock up and leave'.
