Coromandel House

From the humble beginnings of the classic kiwi beach section including a 1970’s caravan and an ablution block, to this stunning architectural masterpiece, this project is one that is very close to our hearts.

The house comprises of insitu concrete construction with a suspended ground floor slab. The foundations are large strip footings sitting on 70 large concrete piles.

With a clear design vision, the result is this stunning home which is an exercise in reduction. The downstairs features predominantly concrete with Australian Blackbutt features in the ceiling and all the fitted joinery, including the kitchen.

Upstairs the entire level is lined in Australian Blackbutt to create a modern treehouse feel. To reach the upper level, you climb a floating hanging raw steel staircase.

Outside, there is a private deck and courtyard surrounded by lush planting. The pool is a custom design by Andrew Price which is a fully tiled 360 degree infinity water tank pool with a custom curved seat and steps accessed from the cantilever steel bridge.
